Monday’s wet weather did not dampen the atmosphere at Chaddesley Corbett nor Upcott Cross.
Whilst many of the titles were decided, Luke Price’s Inchidaly Robin won again to gain the Leading Horse award in the Men’s Open at Chaddesley. An eighth win of the season, a remarkable feat having only had his first at the end of March at Larkhill. Price had a double on the day with his Elle Est Beau winning the mare’s championship which further extended his lead as the Leading Owner.
James King and Gina Andrews were both in winning form, highlighting their positions at the head of the Men’s and Women’s championships. King rode a treble on the day confirming his dominance in the Men’s table for the fourth time whilst Andrews had one winner and gained her title back, in doing so winning it for the eleventh time.
Andrew’s victory played its part in deciding the winner of the Novice Women’s title. Clara Brewitt and Marina Bealby went into the final day level on wins; Brewitt held the lead due to the number of seconds ridden and the result seemed inevitable with Bealby riding the favourite, Precious Bounty, in the Ladies Open. However, Andrews was seen at her brilliant best and forged clear to win on Missed Tee, meaning the title went to Brewitt.
Devon’s Rian Corcoran has been dominant in the Men’s Novice division and finished third in the overall Men’s Championship. He is a worthy winner and will be one to follow in the future when joining professional ranks.
Joshua Newman may have been defeated by King in an attempt to win a first Men’s Title but remained dominant in the large yard trainers table. He and Andrews have had a good battle at the top over the last few months but Newman drew clear over the last two weekends to win it for the second year running.
A close battle at the top of the 6-14 horses trainers table between Jennifer Owen and Harry Ryall has been exciting, Owen has however secured her first title whilst enjoying her best season.
Yorkshire’s Alice Dawson has led the way in the small trainers race since early season and wins comfortably by three.
