Horses who have raced on Britain’s point-to-point circuit were in winning form under Rules over the Christmas period.

Aintree’s decision to stage a Boxing Day fixture enabled trainer Dan Skelton to find another winning opportunity for the mare Cherie D’Am, who has now won three of her four starts for the stable. She opened her racing career in a point-to-point at Hexham in November 2022 when ridden by her then trainer, John Dawson.

Classic Concorde (pictured above winning at Cothelstone in May) has become the latest in a long line of multiple winners for Bridgend trainer David Brace. The gelding won his fifth hurdle race in the past four months when scoring at Chepstow – under former national novice champion Connor Brace – on Welsh National Day. Classic Concorde also won four point-to-points last season before switching to hurdling.

Max Comley saddled Lavida Adiva
to win at Kingston Blount in May on her point-to-point debut. She was subsequently sold to Ruth Jefferson, and after being placed in two hurdle races scored easily at Catterick on Thursday.

Pedley Wood needed just one run to break his duck when tackling a maiden point-to-point at Sheriff Hutton in January 2022. He was subsequently sold out of Tom Ellis’s stable and headed to Dorset and a place with Joe Tizzard. After a couple of placings over hurdles he switched to fences in November, made a winning start at Hereford and followed up at Taunton on Saturday.
