Ever thought the hunter chase fixture list was a mystery hidden in the far corner of an ancient burial ground?

Not any more, for the light is now shining brightly on 2023’s series of races via a new publication titled Hunter Chase Planner. It’s like the Point-to-Point planner, but focuses solely on hunters’ chases. If you think that’s good news, it gets better. Every owner and trainer who registered a horse to run both last season and this will be receiving a printed edition in the post and the cost will be exactly zilch. That’s zero Pounds – not even post and packing.

This act of generosity is down to the racecourses which stage hunters’ chases, and whose executives wanted to ensure trainers and owners were fully informed and could better target races. Ilona Barnett – racecourse manager at Stratford Racecourse and chair of the Point-to-Point Secretaries Association – and Izzie Marshall – racing executive at the Racecourse Association (RCA) and currently leading the women riders’ title race – worked on the project and coordinated the funding.

The goal is to send out print editions next week, and meanwhile a digital version of the Hunter Chase Planner can be viewed on this website. Just click HERE – alternatively go to Guides and Downloads, Owners & Keepers and then scroll down to Hunter Chasing.

This new publication prints every hunters’ chase, provides info on all the courses, picks out the season’s three point-to-point Flat races held at Exeter, Aintree and Stratford, provides a list of useful contacts and a Q & A guide.
