Leading Irish trainer Gordon Elliott and owners Gigginstown House Stud are not averse to buying a young horse from Britain’s point-to-point circuit.
Tomorrow they unleash their latest recruit when Panjandrum tackles a bumper at Limerick (7.15) having been purchased out of Gina Andrews’ stable at Tattersalls Cheltenham’s January Sale for £95,000.
A son of Blue Bresil and the winning Kayf Tara mare Mickie, Panjandrum unseated Jack Andrews when making his point-to-point debut at Hexham in early December, but later in the month he landed a 13-runner young-horse maiden race at Chaddesley Corbett (pictured walking back in). The runner-up, Sweating Bullets, has since been placed in a hurdle race for France-based trainers Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm, while the winner of the Hexham race, Jack The Lad, was bought by Irish trainer Tom Gibney who has since saddled him to be placed in a bumper.
Panjandrum is one of 14 runners in the Limerick bumper in which he will be ridden by amateur rider Harry Swan, son of nine-time Irish champion jockey Charlie Swan.
