A new point-to-point fixture list has been confirmed for the rest of the season, with a restart scheduled for Monday, March 29.
This fixture list will provide 12 weeks racing at 54 fixtures over 27 racedays, subject of course to government requirements.
We are very grateful for all the fixtures who have volunteered to run, and indeed those who have stepped down to ensure that the sport remains viable behind closed doors. We are particularly grateful to five fixtures who have stepped up to run at end of March during weekdays – indeed one of these has now moved four times to help the sport. However, they are subject to them being able to find the necessary professional support as well as get clearance, and so all fixtures in March/April may change date by one or two days due to the need to find the various elements required. The April dates are now as firm as they can be under the current conditions, with May and June to be confirmed at the end of March.
Of course this is not as large a programme as we would normally expect. However, it is of note that there were sadly only 47 fixtures over 23 racedays last season, whilst the full season in 1981, representing seventies and eighties, starting on February 1 had 31 racedays. Thus we can still plan on having a great season, albeit delayed with a total greater than either of them.
