ITV Racing’s Luke Harvey took his topper off and time out from entertaining Royal Ascot viewers to talk about his new hope for the next point-to-point season.
“I went to Doncaster and bought a horse called Raised With Praise,” said Harvey, a confirmed fan of point-to-pointing despite a full-time job in the world of licensed racing.
“I bought him from Irish trainer Joe Casey [for £10,000]. He’s a horse that suits me ideally – he’s run five times in Irish point-to-points, and while he’s shown very little ability he is still a maiden, which is a big plus. He has bits and pieces of form, but he is everything I wanted – he’s by a good sire in Getaway and he’s a six-year-old, so he’s ready to go on with.
“I’d like to think we can get him ready nice and early to run at Barbury Castle or Larkhill before Christmas.”
Owner/trainer Harvey was dealt a blow last season when his eight-year-old Drumlynn suffered a tendon injury when second in a hunters’ chase to the smart Theatre Territory at Exeter. He said of Drumlynn: “He’s going to be fine, but he will miss next season.”
