Andrew Merriam, Chairmain of the Point-to-Point Authority Board, is delighted to announce that, following a selection process, Fiona Needham has agreed to become an ‘Independent’ member of the PPA Board.

Needham brings huge practical experience to the PPA Board. Quite apart from great success as a rider in the past, she is currently PPSA Area Chairman in Yorkshire, as well as a very successful joint owner-trainer with her father.

Needham (pictured above with her pointer Absainte) is also Clerk of the Course at Catterick, providing a wider viewpoint of racing under Rules. She says: “I am delighted to be joining the PPA Board as an Independent member and am very much looking forward to the challenge.

“As a lifelong enthusiast and participant, point to pointing is very much my passion. While it faces many pressures, as do other sports, the enthusiasm, community and goodwill that pointing generates is a wonderful basis for moving the sport forward.”

Needham will take her place on the Board from 1 January, 2020, replacing Nick Sutton who has completed a full six-year term on the Board, including acting as Chairman. The Point-to-Point Authority are most grateful for all that Nick has done for the sport, and will continue to do in other capacities.
