Three horses who have run recently on Britain’s point-to-point circuit will go under the hammer tomorrow at Tattersalls Cheltenham’s February Sale.
After five withdrawals 22 horses are set to walk the ring, including the British trio of Mooserwirt, Edith Pelham and Nice One Nelson, who are all five-year-olds. Mooserwirt is being consigned by Briardale Equestrian, which is the Yorkshire stable of Jack Teal, while Edith Pelham and Nice One Nelson represent the Warwickshire-based G & T Racing, aka Gina Andrews and Tom Ellis.
A son of Sholokhov, Mooserwirt (Lot 11) made a winning debut at Brocklesby Park 12 days ago when winning by nine lengths. A €34,000 store purchase by Teal at Goffs Arkle Sale of stores in June 2023, the gelding is now owned by his trainer and Roger Marley. Mooserwirt is out of the unraced Presenting mare No More Storms, who is a full-sister to the Gr.1-winning chaser No More Heroes and from the family of very talented Fiveforthree and his half-brother Celestial Gold.
Edith Pelham (Lot 12), a 40,000 purchase as an unbroken store at Goffs UK’s Spring Sale, is a daughter of Blue Bresil and the Midnight Legend mare Midnite Grace, who won over hurdles and was one of five winners out of the mare Ardentinny. A young-horse maiden at Sheriff Hutton was chosen for Edith Pelham’s first start in point-to-points and she scooted up by four lengths under Jack Andrews.

He also rode Nice One Nelson (Lot 20) who ran at Duncombe Park in Yorkshire on Sunday and produced a performance of promise on debut when finishing second of ten runners behind the Dale Peters-trained Line Em Up (photo top of page). That horse had gone close when second in an Irish point-to-point last spring – the winner has since won three hurdle races for Evan Williams – and had again filled the runner-up spot behind another smart rival at Sheriff Hutton last month. The form shown by Line Em Up reflects well upon Nice One Nelson, who cost £26,000 as a three-year-old at the Spring Sale.
A son of Mount Nelson and the Presenting mare Nice One Madge, Nice One Nelson’s dam was unraced, but second dam Cailin Alainn was a very smart operator who won twice at Gr.1 level over fences.
