My name is Rupert Wilks, I am a full time member of staff at Harry Derham Racing and also have a point to point horse named Beyond Redemption, who I train and ride myself. On the 23rd of May 2025, I am going to be hiking up Machu Picchu in aid of The Injured Jockeys Fund, and in memory of a late good friend of mine Keagan Kirkby.
I worked with Keagan at Paul Nicholls’ and shared the track with him a handful of times last season. He was also very generous and caring over me as often I relied on Keagan for numerous things whether it was just a lift, somewhere to stay, kit I forgot or simply someone to have a drink with. He was the type of man who would show up for anything alongside being a carer for his mum, for whom this charity has supported so well. For these reasons I want to try and help give something back and make sure that if any event were to happen like this in the future, families can be taken care of like the Kirkby’s have been, by the IJF.
Many Thanks,
Rupert Wilks
