Docket Man, who finished second in the season’s first GB Pointing Bonus Young Horse Maiden race held at Lower Machen on Sunday, goes under the hammer at Tattersalls Cheltenham’s November Sale this evening.

The four-year-old son of Walzertakt, owned by Tom Lacey (right) and trained by him in Herefordshire, ran on past rivals when runner-up to Baron Du Brizais in a ten-runner race which could prove to have some depth. Docket Man, who enters the ring as Lot 31, was bought as a store at Tattersalls Ireland’s Derby Sale in June last year for €42,000.

Had he won on Sunday he would have been offered today with the attraction of being eligible for a £25,000 bonus if winning a developmental hurdle or chase within two years for a licensed trainer based in Britain. Winners in each of this season’s 15 GB Pointing Bonus Maidens can head for a bonus of £25,000 if bred in Britain, and £15,000 if bred elsewhere.

The next race in the series is scheduled to take place at Dunsmore in Devon on Sunday week.

Racegoers at Cheltenham today can attend the sale, while a live video of the auction can be viewed at www.tattersallscheltenham.com
