The first meeting of two Trebudannon meetings is on Sunday with the second on Easter Monday. The amphitheatre venue provides great viewing and competitive racing. Gates open at 11am with the first race due off at 1pm. Entry is £18 including a racecard with under 16s free. Postcode TR8 4LP.
Logan Rock Inn and Peter George Transport Keepers Conditions (Level 1)
11 entries come forward for the Keepers Conditions race that looks like it could be between Minella Jab, Punches Cross and Quintin’s Man. Minella Jab (Megan Lawrence) got the better of Clondaw Drake at Wadebridge but seems to have lost form since and has pulled up twice since that win. Punches Cross was no match for Hearts Corner and had to settle for 2nd at Buckfastleigh in the Westcountry Champion Chase. He is a horse of consistency however and has won five of his twelve starts since joining Danielle Keneally. Dual course winner, Quintin’s Man finished 2nd to Beacon Edge at Wadebridge in January and if he can show that form again, should go close. Lucinda Hayes is looking to make her racecourse debut aboard the prolific Lakota Warrior and we wish her the best of luck!
Mitchell and Webber Conditions (Level 2) 9yo & up
Three of the seven entries in this won last time out and will make this an exciting, competitive race. Call Simon won under Aran McManus at Buckfastleigh and have built up a good partnership together. Getaway Drumlee was produced to perfection under Hannah Morgan to win a Conditions race at Didmarton and The Big Breakaway came home alone at Buckfastleigh two weeks ago on his first start for Leslie Jefford under Anna Johnston. Of the others, Plan Of Attack ran with plenty of credit to come home 11 lengths behind Al Gasparo at Charlton Horethorne.
Exeter Racecourse Intermediate
Woodstock Octo currently remains unbeaten since joining Josh Newman’s yard and has been impressive in all three starts including most recently at Larkhill in a Restricted under a penalty. Will Biddick has been enjoying a great time of things and Madame Le’strange won her Maiden at Wadebridge and backed that up by winning a Conditions at Charlton Horethorne. What’s Up Harry won a Restricted at Didmarton for Edward Rees but may have to settle for a placing here.
R J Trevarthen Mixed Open
Harry Neale has been enjoying the perfect start to his jockey career and has already ridden three winners aboard Hidden Heroics. He got the better of Beacon Edge at Kilworthy last week and the horse is clearly thriving off the switch back to Points. Josh Newman has two entered and they come in the form of multiple Point winner Important Notice and Caspers Court who notched up a three timer last season. Important Notice has not quite found his form this season, but is however, the only horse to beat Cheltenham Foxhunter winner Barton Snow, since he joined Joe O’Shea, when beating him at Chaddesley Corbett last season. Both Minella Jab and Punches Cross also hold entries in this race if opting away from the first.
Dunbia Restricted
Dollanstown was one of Will Biddick’s five winners at Badbury Rings when coming home in front in the Maiden and has since ran competitively in a Restricted when second to Carrillo at Charlton Horethorne. Tourmaline (John Heard) and Impakt St Georges (Josh Newman) met at Didmarton where Tourmaline finished 4th and Impakt St Georges was behind him in 6th, they are both winners this season but have a bit to find with Dollanstown. Jimmy Cole brings forward African Lady who finished behind Dollanstown at Charlton Horethorne and could run a good race in this.
Chris and Sarita Perkins Maiden
Emmas Wish (John Heard) is still searching for her Maiden win and has been knocking on the door on her last two outings when finishing third and second. Champagne Blue made a promising start for Josh Newman when coming home 2nd in the Maiden at Buckfastleigh a couple of weeks ago. Ed Rees has Dreamaboutit entered whose 4th to Luther at Charing will make her competitive in this race. Will Biddick has the debutant Run Ruby Run entered and with the way his horses are running, he cannot be ignored.
