Ever since Clara Brewitt initially teamed up with Kilfilum Woods the partnership have barely put a foot wrong and the combination appear the dot on the card at Paxford’s annual meeting on Easter Monday (April 6).

The duo boast a 50 per cent winning strike rate when completing and the only blemish came when Brewitt parted company with the 10-year-old at the first fence in a valuable hunter’s chase at Stratford last May.

Most recently Kilfilum Woods showed his liking for a sounder surface when dotting up at Siddington and with ground conditions likely to be good or a bit quicker on Monday they can follow up in Mixed Open company.

Trainer Francesca Poste’s husband Charlie said: “I thought he was very good when winning around Siddington as he gave the impression he was a happy horse – I suppose that might have been down to the quick conditions which he seems to prefer

“He will be stepping back in trip to two-and-a-half miles this time but I do not see that as an issue as he has got a bit of speed and Clara can make a bit more use of him as she knows him so well.”

The Poste team are hopeful of triggering a double in the Five Years Old And Over Maiden with Jasmin Des Blins who ran a stinker when well supported down to 6-4 favourite at the same Siddington meeting.

Poste commented: “It’s still a mystery why he ran so poorly and we have to hope it was just a blip as he seemed so well in himself. We will go back to basics with him now and start again – hopefully he can atone in what seems a winnable race.”

Alaphilippe dead-heated last time but seems to have been found an ideal opportunity to post an outright success in the Members race at a course which seems to favour those ridden up with the pace.

Recent Ston Easton winner, Jewel Of Windsor, has a choice of engagements over the holiday weekend but the PPORA Club Members Restricted appears the chosen destination.

Luca Morgan’s mare gave the impression she is a relentless galloper when scoring last time but she has a bit more on her plate on this occasion. However such was the ease of last time’s victory, she may well be up to the task at hand.

Welsh trainer Luke Price may hold the key to the 0-110 Rated Series contest as he has entered  Inchidaly Robin and recent Larkhill winner Shareyourbiscuits – however both hold alternatives

But if the latter, who is unbeaten in two tries since joining Price, takes his chance the hint should probably be taken as he looks the type that the trainer does especially well with.

The curtain comes down on the afternoon’s action with a very open affair for PPORA Club Members Veteran Horses Conditions (Level 2) race where Go Go Geronimo can bounce back to winning ways

He has faced some tall tasks to date this season and he should be suited by having his sights lowered as this represents a step down in class compared to the opposition he has faced on recent manoeuvres.

Clerk Of The Course Rupert Wakley is very happy with conditions ahead of Easter Monday’s meeting. He said: “The ground is good at present and it’s pretty consistent all the way round.”
