The Cheshire Forest meeting takes place at Tabley on Sunday 26th April. Three pony races precede the main point to point where seventy-three runners have been entered for the six races, starting at 2.00. Joe O’Shea has entered Barton Snow in the Mixed Open, and it would be fantastic if the dual Foxhunter winner is declared.
The opening PPORA Club Conditions Race (Level 3) has attracted eight entries, the best of which may be Amidnightstar, Just Lucky Sivola, O’Hallorans Castle and Ringsend John. Ringsend John had good winning form two seasons ago and came third at Shelfield Park a fortnight ago. O’Hallorans Castle was second to Blagthebookies at Eyton on Easter Monday. Amidnightstar was collared close home by Couer D’Alene in a match at Sandon and should be competitive. The Luca Morgan trained Just Lucky Sivola was in contention when falling three out in a Ladies at Tranwell. The former Paul Nicholls trained bumper and hurdle winner should have too much class here.
The best of the sixteen entries for the Restricted appear to be Avichi in The Park, Count Frollo, Fayrely Fruitful and O’Hallorans Castle. Avichi in The Park won his Maiden well at Shelfield Park and looks progressive. Count Frollo and Fayrely Fruitful are both trained by Rhiannon Lodge and whichever runs here would have an excellent chance. Fayrely Fruitful won a Restricted at Dalton Park and fell at the last in an Intermediate at Hornby Castle when a close second. Count Frollo looked good in winning a Restricted at Eyton on Easter Monday.
The PPORA Conditions (Level 1) has ten entries and the ones to concentrate on are Hugos New Horse, Inchidaly Robin, Lavorante and No Risk des Flos. Hugos New Horse jumped the last upsides Premier Fantasy in the Mixed Open at Eyton where a jumping error may have cost him the race, eventually going down by half a length. Luke Price has a strong hand with Inchidaly Robin and Lavorante. Both have good recent form and would be competitive. However, the Gina Andrews trained and ridden No Risk des Flos has won his last two and is the selection.
The final three races are all over the shorter trip of two-and-a-half miles. The Mixed Open has the last two Aintree Foxhunter winners Gracchus de Balme and Barton Snow in the eleven entries. Whichever of them Joe O’Shea decides to declare will take some beating.
The ten entries for the Conditions Race (Level 2) include Amidnightstar, Lavorante, Poncherello and Senior Citizen. Poncherello won at the Brocklesby but was unsuited by the soft ground at Sandon. The veteran Senior Citizen has been running well and should be competitive. However, Lavorante may prove too good here.
The largest field of the day sees eighteen entered for the concluding Maiden. The ones to concentrate on with pointing form are A Mighty King, Gusaike, Leopard d’Irlande and Spanish Darling. Leopard d’Irlande has been a beaten favourite on his last three outings. Spanish Darling won a flat race at Bitterley and is an interesting contender in his first run over fences. A Mighty King
ran on well in the closing stages when third in the Maiden at Bitterley. It might be worthwhile to take a chance with Gusaike who has finished runner-up on his last two starts.
