Former point-to-point jockey Andy Corbett has taken on an extraordinary endurance challenge this April, one that pushed him to his physical limits while raising money for two causes close to his heart.
Starting on April 1st, Andy began running one mile. Each day, he increased the distance by one mile; 2 miles on April 2nd, 3 miles on April 3rd, and so on. In the lead-up to race day, while most marathon runners were tapering and resting, Andy did the opposite completing a gruelling 25-mile run the day before.
He then capped off this remarkable effort yesterday by running the full 26.2 miles at the London Marathon.
Andy’s challenge is about far more than miles. He set out to raise funds for two charities that have played an important role in his life:
Andy’s motivation is deeply personal. A number of years ago, he suffered a serious fall at Higham that brought his riding career to an abrupt end. Despite this setback, his passion for racing never faded and he has continued to work closely with racehorses ever since.
This April challenge is a testament to his resilience, determination and commitment to giving back to the community that supported him.
Andy documented his journey throughout the month on social media, sharing the highs and lows of taking on such an intense challenge. You can follow his progress and show your support via:
