Lady Bee Great (above) was spring-heeled when winning yesterday’s Jockey Club Mares’ & Fillies’ Maiden Final at Chaddesley Corbett.
It was the culmination of a series which started in January and was scheduled to take in 14 races, and it offered an enviable bonus to the first three in the final. Conditions state the winner can double any prize money they earn up to £10,000 on their first, second or third run at a Jockey Club racecourse, while the second and third can do likewise up to £5,000.
In February the David Dennis-trained Imperial Pride, who won the Jockey Club final in 2024, scooped a £4,000 bonus after landing a handicap chase to that value at Huntingdon having already doubled the £880 prize money she had gained for finishing placed at Market Rasen.
Meanwhile, Catwalk Girl, who finished runner-up in last year’s final, has scooped the £5,000 bonus maximum after being placed at Wincanton in April for trainer Max Comley and then winning a chase at Huntingdon earlier this month.
Taktics (right, Lucas Murphy) and Walking The Line (Fred Philipson-Stow) lead Lady Bee Great (James King) on the first circuit
Lady Bee Great, who was ridden by James King for owner/trainer Luke Price, beat the Chris Barber-trained duo Walking The Line and Taktics after stalking that pair on the first circuit. The race was sponsored on the day by The Four Counties Point-to-Point Pitch Commitee.
Price said he was now considering options for the seven-year-old.
