As announced recently the GB Pointing Bonus series for 4-&-5-year-old Maidens has been approved by the HBLB for the 2026/27 season.
After further consultation with the High-Quality-Horse group (HQH) this week, who were instrumental in the initial concept and obtaining funding, the Point-to-Point Authority can confirm the following:
Paul Miller, Chief Executive of the PPA said “We were delighted to get early approval of the scheme, allowing us to make the original announcement ahead of the Doncaster sales. This confirmation ahead of the Arkle sales will allow owners and trainers to plan and buy accordingly. Having Tattersalls, Goffs and p2p trainers’ input will hopefully give everyone the confidence the races will be run on the most suitable courses at the right time of year. The timing could not be better as we a had the first winner of the £25,000 bonus this week when Kingofthefrontier won at Southwell”
Winners of a GB Pointing young-horse maiden race land a bonus of £25,000 if GB bred (£15,000 if bred overseas) should they subsequently be successful with a British licenced trainer within two years in any of the following:
Miller continued “I’d again like to thank HBLB for underwriting the scheme to the value of £250,000, once again showing their continued support for British point-to-pointing”.
