Four pre-season training days run by the British Racing School (BRS) and geared towards point-to-point riders have been slotted into the calendar.
Each session will be tutored by former jockeys who are UKCC Level 3 coaches, and attendance will fulfil the mandatory riders’ assessment for first-time or returning riders. The theme at each course will be how to become more effective as an amateur rider, and while there is a fee of £30 that is refundable on application for an RQC (riders’ qualification certificate).
Attendees are required to take a horse to the session in order to take part in schooling.
Dominic Elsworth will be the coach at the first training day, which takes place at Alan and Lawney Hill’s yard at Aston Rowant in Oxfordshire on a date to be confirmed in October.
Rodi Greene takes over for a day at Pontispool Equine Centre near Taunton in Somerset on October 27, and he will also be tutoring at Tim Vaughan’s yard near Cowbridge in South Wales on January 8. In between there will be a day at the BRS in Newmarket, where Richard Perham and Charlie Poste will be the tutors – it takes place on November 17.
