Thirteen (and a half) British point-to-pointers will go under the hammer when Tattersalls stages its Cheltenham April Sale tomorrow.
Covid restrictions mean the event has been transferred to the sales company’s Park Paddocks headquarters in Newmarket, where a catalogue involving some 40 young jumpers will begin selling at 1pm.
The ‘half’ a British pointer is Scipion (Lot 34), who finished runner-up at Larkhill in December for owner/trainer Tom Lacey, and was then moved to Colin Bowe’s County Wexford yard. He has since finished second in another maiden point-to-point at Cork.
Dorset trainer Chris Barber sends five four-year-olds to the sale, starting with Here Comes Henry (Lot 1), who was runner-up in a Flat race at Revesby Park on his sole start. Other Barber entries are Maisemore Park maiden winner Flaming Ambition (Lot 10), Dingley winner Lyrical Genius (Lot 15), Kimble runner-up Dash For Cash (Lot 31) and the filly Kindofabigdeal (Lot 41) who won at Cothelstone.

Tom Ellis’s Warwickshire stable offer three lots, starting with five-year-old Itsallintheclouds (Lot 2), who won at Aldington on Friday last week. Ellis’s four-year-olds Scotch On Da Rocks (Lot 16), who scored at Mollington on his first start, and Kimble winner Another Mystery (Lot 28) are also in the catalogue.
Two Yorkshire stables are putting horses through the ring, and both ran recently at Hornby Castle. Nicky Tinkler offers five-year-olds Poet’s Corner (Lot 11), who made a winning debut when taking division one of the maiden on that card, while Marton Abbey (Lot 7) finished runner-up in division two for Cherry Coward’s yard.

Fran Nimmo and Charlie Poste have travelled two horses to Newmarket from their Warwickshire stables. They offer Adjournment (Lot 12), who has taken the runner-up spot in maidens at Larkhill last season and at Maisemore Park this year. Adjournment is joined by Saturday’s Chaddesley Corbett winner Dondiam (Lot 35), a four-year-old who won at the first time of asking.
