Cheltenham racecourse and point-to-pointing in the West Mercian region have teamed up to create a ticket special offer.
Britain’s premier Jump track (pictured above) is to provide 30 free admission tickets to its prestigious Festival Trials Day on January 27 to volunteers involved at each of three West Mercian meetings – they are the Gloucester Races fixture at Maisemore Park (March 31), the Worcestershire meeting at Chaddesley Corbett, featuring the Lady Dudley Cup (April 20) and the Berkeley meeting at Woodford (April 27), which stages The Jockey Club’s Champion Novice Final for fillies and mares.

A reciprocal arrangement will see the West Mercian Point-to-Point Association provide Cheltenham Racecourse members with half-price admission to the same trio of point-to-point fixtures.
In addition the famous Cheltenham Gold Cup trophy won by many legends of steeplechasing will be on display at Chaddesley Corbett’s Wheatland meeting on December 3, while an article about West Mercian point-to-pointing will feature in the Christmas edition of Cheltenham’s Morse Code magazine which is distributed to members.
A film about racing at Cheltenham will be shown on the big screen at West Mercian meetings throughout the season.
Jim Squires, West Mercian chairman, says: “We are delighted by this engagement with Cheltenham which will reward 30 lucky and much-appreciated volunteers involved at each of the three point-to-points. In return we look forward to welcoming many Cheltenham members who can gain entry for £10 instead of £20 at those same fixtures.

“This arrangement is a natural fit for both Cheltenham, which is located in the West Mercian region, and point-to-pointing. Our sport has been the starting point for many jockeys, trainers and owners who have graced Cheltenham down the years, while the racecourse has a rich history of staging such famous amateur races as the Festival [formerly Foxhunters’] Hunters’ Chase and the National Hunt Chase, plus the superb evening hunters’ chase meeting each spring.”
