The PPA Board is delighted to announce that Darren Edwards has agreed to join the Board as of 1st January 2022 following completion of the selection process.
Most of you will know him for his exploits in the saddle, where he has already ridden 259 winners at point to points, the most recent last weekend at Wadebridge, and won a further 16 hunter chases, and his strong family links to racing in the south west. However, he also provides other dimensions, including his own professional skillsets as a chartered surveyor, heading up ‘Sustainable Energy’ at Fisher German. This wider knowledge base is likely to become increasingly important for the Board as external forces have a growing effect on our sport.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jeremy Barber for his seven years on the Board, having agreed to extend for a further year during Covid to allow a proper selection process for his replacement to take place. Jeremy’s deep knowledge of the sport, developed over a long period of time, has been invaluable, whilst he has always been on call to provide sage advice to the PPA Office. He remains the Wessex representative for the PPORA.
