Dorset licensed trainer Anthony Honeyball took a fancy to UK pointers at yesterday’s Tattersalls’ Cheltenham May Sale
A former point-to-point rider, Honeyball bought Bleue Away for £60,000, and Wagner for £50,000. Bleue Away, offered from Philip Rowley’s Shropshire stable, had won a JRL Group Flat race at Bangor and an Eyton-on-Severn maiden race, while Wagner scored at Garthorpe for Cheshire-based Josh Guerriero.
Dino Boy, who went in at Woodford for Tom Faulkner’s South Wales yard, and then ran a cracker when narrowly beaten in an Aintree bumper, made £50,000 to a bid from Highflyer Bloodstock, and Irish trainers Mags Mullins and Jessie Harrington bought Tango Charlie and Wingin A Prayer respectively. Tango Charlie, who made £19,000, was consigned by Tom Chanin, while Wingin A Prayer, who was knocked down for £18,000, had been under Simon Edwards’ care.
Also heading across the Irish Sea is Hereditary Rule, who was bought out of Fran Nimmo’s yard by agent Mouse O’Ryan and trainer Gordon Elliott for £15,000.
