REGULATORY STRUCTURE

British point-to-point ultimately falls under the jurisdiction of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), the regulatory authority for licensed thoroughbred horse racing in the UK. The BHA passes its powers to the Point-to-Point Authority (PPA) through a regularly reviewed delegated power of authority agreement. The PPA consists of a small team of full-time staff and a Board of seven:

  • Chair
  • Jockey Club representative
  • Point-to-Point Secretaries Association (PPSA) representative
  • British Hound Sports Association (BHSA)  representative
  • Point-to-Point Owners and Riders Association (PPORA) representative
  • 2 Independent representatives

Although each board member represents the views of their specific part of pointing, decisions are made in the interests of the national sport and ensuring a successful future.
