The first of three meetings at Bratton Down takes place on Sunday. Gates open at 11am with pony racing due off at 1pm, kindly sponsored by Tom Malone Bloodstock. £15 per person with under 16s free. Postcode EX31 4SG. The six race point-to-point card kick starts at 2pm with 6 races due. They have received 57 entries and fingers crossed for some good racing.

James Pryce Tractors Restricted

Follow My Order was a runaway winner when last seen under Charlie Marshall and will be the one to beat in this. He does not mind the quicker ground and he seems to flourish for Michael Felton when the sun shines. He will have to carry a 5lb penalty but that should not be a problem. Will Biddick has Jokers ‘n’ Clowns entered, who has been unsuccessful in 15 starts over hurdles but did win a Maiden Point in Ireland back in December 2023. He has produced a career official best rating of 106 but has looked tricky under rules and will need to be given a good ride to see out this trip. Troubleisontheway put in a disappointing performance at South Hill for Danielle Keneally and reappeared the following day at Vauterhill to win the Mares Maiden beating Ms Belle by a short head. James King and Luke Price are the hot duo to follow at this time of year. Rhythm Of Life ran very well at South Hill to finish just behind All Rise Malone. Miltown Bridge finished 3rd at Flete Park for Ed Walker and has been in the placings several times this season and should again be competitive in this.

Ucanstore.com Maiden

Down The Inner will be looking to break his duck in the Maiden race for Ed Walker and owner Reg Hopkins. He finished 4 lengths 2nd behind River Don at Cothelstone before finishing 2nd behind Citizen Jane at Woodford. Lady Bee Great finished 3rd on her first start Pointing but has mixed form under rules for Ross O’Sullivan. She was 2nd by ½ length in a two mile Maiden Hurdle but her form deteriorated after this. Silent Auction looked like she was on the improve this season before putting in a disappointing performance at South Hill and Laura Hurley will be hoping to put a line through that run.

Moorlands Vets Conditions (Level 1)

Last season’s leading horse, Inchidaly Robin has continued winning this season and took the Conditions beating Conor’s Gift at South Hill. He looks to set the bar in this race. Leslie Jefford has the progressive Jeu Gagnat entered who has done nothing but improve all season and really has been one to follow. This is another step up in grade but is an exciting progressive type. Just Loose Change won well at South Hill for Darren McAlinden beating the decent Skilfull Lord, who also holds an entry in his race. Skilful Lord is prolific around this track and is definitely one to keep an eye on. Holiday Fund is also a course winner but couldn’t get near Histronic at South Hill, when he was last seen under young Lucas Murphy for Josh Newman. Investment Manager gave Ashley Dascombe his 2nd winner on the May Bank Holiday when winning the Conditions race for his parents.

PJ Hobbs & Johnson White Racing Mixed Open

11 entries could head to post for the Mixed Open. Jewel In The Park has been a standout horse for both Ed Doggrell and Chris Barber this season and he has not been beaten in his previous six starts. He won the Open at Holnicote beating Lavorante, who also holds an entry in this. Lavorante has been extremely competitive in Conditions races and lost nothing in defeat at Holnicote and will continue to be progressive in these races at the end of the season. As well as Lavorante, Luke Price has Inchidaly Robin double entered in this. Josh Newman has multiple Open winner, Beacon Edge entered and also Caspers Court who won three Point to Points last season. Freddie Fletcher could head down with Farnoge who most recently finished 2nd to Aramax at Mollington.

James Sherlock Motorbikes & PPORA Conditions (Level 3)

Conor’s Gift (Leslie Jefford) could not get the better of Inchidaly Robin at South Hill but this was only her second start of the season and she flourishes with the sun on her back. She won her Restricted at Cherrybrook last season and continued to run well after this. Louis Davidson was having a dream first ride aboard Castle Robin at Holnicote before unfortunately unseating at the last when in 3rd place. He will be looking to make amends here for trainer Darren McAlinden. Skilful Lord also holds an entry in this which looks an easier option than the Mixed Open. He does have a 10lb penalty but with the possibility of a 5lb claimer, this would therefore be reduced.

Totnes & Bridgetown Conditions Grassroots (Level 2)

The biggest field of the day could come in the last race with 12 entries. Several entries in this are double entered. Eileen’s Milan is an interesting entry for Chris Barber who finished a neck second to Make Idaho Great at Upcott Cross last week. John Heard has a new recruit in Earths Furies and he was very unlucky to fall at the last, again at Upcott Cross last week when chasing home Woodstock Octo. Ringsend John provided Bruce Vaughan with his first winner when beating Big Bresil at Eyton giving trainer Luke Price, another winner. Aimee Jones has been enjoying a good season and has the choice of both Au Fleuron and Jay Bee Whiskey, both trained by Elen Wylie. Jay Bee Whiskey looks the better of the two and most recently finished 2nd to the prolific Ninth Wave.
