The first of two meetings held at Flete Park kick starts on Saturday. It has to be one of the most picturesque courses in Devon and Cornwall and always has an incredible sized crowd. The card features The Gun Room Mixed Open over the extended trip of four miles! Entrance £15 per person with under 16s going free (cash or card on the gate). Pony Racing, sponsored by Mr A Mildmay-White & Mrs Anne Kane, starts at 1pm with the first Point to Point race due off at 2pm. Postcode PL21 9NU.

The Bartons Solicitors Restricted

A healthy amount of entries have been received for the opener with a possible 13 that could head to post. Make Idaho Great looks the standout entry having won both his Maiden and Restricted since joining Josh Newman. Five of the other entries are coming here off the back of winning a Maiden. James Shaw rode Slide Rule to win for his parents at Cherrybrook two weeks ago. Savant Du Mesnil got off the mark at Cotley for Kayley Woollacott Racing Club, as did Don’t Ask Aiden on the same card for Edward Walker. Kow Boy Sivola continued a great season for Ed Rees and won by 20 lengths at Cothelstone and Mini Yeats got the better of a battle down at Trebudannon to give young Freddie Robson, another winner.

The Totnes & Bridgetown Races Company Grassroots Series Conditions (Level 2)

Skilful Lord caught the eye at Dunsmore when coming home behind Jet Smart by 6 lengths for Danielle Kenealy. He is a course winner and loves this time of year! Hannah Morgan gave Talimar Pearl a wonderful ride to win the Grassroots Race at Cherrybrook two weeks ago and could look to pair up again here for trainer Josh Newman. Dual Point winner, Madame Le’Strange, ran with plenty of credit to chase Clonagoose home at Trebudannon under exciting up and coming jockey Katherine Sprake and could look to add another winner to Will Biddick’s tally this season. Get Off Your Phone benefited from the first time blinkers at Trebudannon and although he was no match for Minella Jab on this occasion, it was a big step in the right direction and could provide Jimmy Cole with a well deserved winner.

The Gun Room Mixed Open

The feature race of the day has seen 9 entries come forward over the longer distance of 4 miles. The Westcountry Champion Chase and Cornish National Winner, Hearts Corner, is looking to stay unbeaten this season and the longer trip looks to be no problem after winning over 3m4f on his last start for Josh Newman. Tigerbythetail has received an entry from the Gina Andrews stable and has won his last two starts under Molly Legg. His Cothelstone win was over 3m4f and he won a match race last week at Shelfield Park. Regatta de Blanc (Will Biddick) was back in the winners enclosure after losing her way under rules. She won over 3m2f in the Mares Hunter Chase at Cheltenham Hunter Chase evening but her stamina past this trip is unproven. Harry Neale has enjoyed a wonderful season with Hidden Heroics having won three races this season. He was beaten by Holiday Fund last time out when looking very tired so hopefully that hasn’t left a mark on him here.

The Luscombe Maye Maiden

Plenty of horses bring forward good placed form for this 2m4f Maiden. Alyson Dalton finished 2nd behind Savant Du Mesnil at Cotley for Martin Sweetland and should take a step forward for that run. Cherry Lane, full sister to Jet Smart, ran with loads of credit to finish 4th at Trebudannon and with plenty of success in the family, she could give Josh Newman another winner. Thief Of The Night came home in front of Cherry Lane at Trebudannon and could give Charlotte Leary another winner after her winning the Maiden at Dunsmore. Freddie Fleetfoot had 17 starts over hurdles and had been unsuccessful. He did finish 2nd on his first switch back to Points at Cothelstone and would give the familiar colours of The House Family Partnership a homebred winner. Tim Dennis does well with his youngsters and has the 4 year old Five Lanes looking to make his debut. Dreamaboutit is worth a mention after finishing second last time out and Ed Rees’ horses are in great form!

Full Circles Motors and PPORA D&C Conditions (Level 3)

Leslie Jefford will be hoping to see the progressive Jeu Gagnant back to winning ways. Talimar Pearl got the better of him at Cherrybrook but Anna Johnston is back in the saddle and they have enjoyed a great season together winning a Restricted and Intermediate. Camino Rocio (Ed Rees) has been knocking on the door but was beaten far and square in a match race last weekend at Shelfield Park by Tigerbythetail. The mare Northern Reel, put up a good race against Ninth Wave at Cotley but could find she will be fighting out for the minor honours here.

The Green Circle Feeds Maiden

Emma Summersby’s, Absolut Grey, couldn’t make use of Champagne Blue’s blundering mistake at the last fence at Trebudannon and had to settle for 2nd on this occasion. He looks a strong traveller but has not found much off the bridle on his past two starts. Ginderella finished 3rd behind Absolut Grey and looks sure to win a Maiden at some stage. Duffry Sea has not been seen since May 2024 but brings forward good form from Irish Point to Points and looks a nice prospect for Leslie Jefford. Alyson Dalton could find this a weaker contest if opting away from the earlier 2m4f Maiden.
