The second meeting at Trebudannon is on Bank Holiday Monday and it is one of the best viewing courses in the country! A big barn is situated on site with a bar and food inside and will be the perfect way to round off your Easter weekend! The first race is due off at 1pm. Entry is £18 pp including a racecard with cash and card accepted on the gate. Postcode TR8 4LP.
Logan Rock Inn and Peter George Transport Hunt Members Race
The first race of the day looks to be one of the most competitive Members Races you can find! The most recent winner being Woodstock Octo (Joshua Newman) who battled on well to win the Intermediate last week. He was chased home on this occasion by Madame Le’strange (Will Biddick) who also holds an entry. Both Clonagoose and Jeu Gagnant have really caught the eye this season. Clonagoose has notched up three wins in four runs for Emma Summersby and Jeu Gagnant finished off last season with a win and has come out firing this season by winning both his starts for Leslie Jefford.
Mitchell and Webber Restricted
Since joining Joshua Newman’s yard, Make Idaho Great has come home victorious in a Maiden at Charlton Horethorne and won his Restricted by 15 lengths two weeks ago at Kilworthy. Emmas Wish, for John Heard, secured Darren Andrews his fifth winner of the day at this venue last week and could look to return quickly and will now be up in grade. Lough Owel could not put up a challenge to Make Idaho Great at Kilworthy but looks likely to give Hattie Grose her first ride in public and fingers crossed she has a great time! Up Killoughey looked very progressive last season and may have needed his first run at Milborne when finishing 6th albeit not being beaten far. He could take a good step forward and give Liam Corcoran his first winner of the season.
Exeter Racecourse Ladies Open
This race looks to either be between the Emma Summersby duo or the Josh Newman duo. Emma has Jet Smart and Jubertilee entered with Jet Smart running well at Kilworthy to finish 4 lengths 3rd to Hidden Heroics. Jubertilee is better than form suggests with his Kilworthy run and always runs well this time of year. THe first of two possible runners for Josh Newman are Mixed Open winner, Important Notice, who made all here last week and won comfortably. Caspers Court gave Matilda Garton a wonderful spin to chase Important Notice home on this occasion and no doubt can go closer if reappearing.
R J Trevarthen Maiden
Promising up and coming young jockey, Freddie Robson, is booked to ride Mini Yeats, who still at the age of 9, has not got his head in front, but brings forward the most recent form when finishing 2nd at Howick behind Luke Price’s Shareyourbiscuit. There are two newcomers entered and they represent Tim Dennis and Joshua Newman. Tim Dennis has the 4 year old Vadamos, Five Lanes, entered and Joshua has Dart Of Ginger, a 4 year old filly out of the prolific winner, G For Ginger, who was trained by Anthony Honeyball. Absolut Grey looks like he would suit the drop to 2m4f and put a bold performance up at Kilworthy before looking to not see out the trip. He finished a close 2nd in the race last year and trainer, Emma Summersby, will be hoping he can go one better.
Dunbia Mens Open
The feature race is over the extended trip of 3m4f and has received 8 entries. Hearts Corner won the Westcountry Champion Chase at Buckfastleigh (Joshua Newman) and this step up in trip looks to be no problem. Another to win at Buckfastleigh was Call Simon (Robert Chanin), who Aran McManus has built up a good relationship with and is a very consistent type. Minella Jab destroyed the field here last weekend and was a very impressive winner for Megan Lawrence and has ran well over 3m2f at Cheltenham before. Quintins Man (John Heard) won this race three years ago under Darren Andrews and they will be looking to gain this victory again! Jet Smart (Emma Summersby) could find the company in the Ladies Open easier than this race but the trip looks no problem for him too. Have to mention Revels Hill, who had a wonderful career under rules when trained by Harry Fry but will have to overcome a disappointing run at Exeter last time where he did not seem to be on a going day.
Chris and Sarita Perkins Maiden (NWFAA)
The biggest field looks to come from the last race with 11 entered. Get To The Point ran very creditably for Megan Lawrence here last week and finished 2nd behind Emmas Wish. It was definitely a step in the right direction after a disappointing start to his season. Champagne Blue finished 2nd to Galudon at Buckfastleigh and could round off a good day for Joshua Newman and provide Blackmore Racing Club with another winner. River Don finished 2nd at Larkhill in November but has been disappointing on all his other runs since joining Harry Ryall. Both Mini Yeats and Absolut Grey are entered in this if they opt away from the earlier 2m4f Maiden.
