The Pannell Commercials Members, Subscribers & Farmers Race

Bronn may not have been seen on a racetrack for just over a year, but looks a very exciting prospect to bring to the Pointing ranks for Heidi Drowne. Having reached a rating of 155, he is the winner of a Grade 2 over hurdles and was placed third twice in Grade 1 company at both Cheltenham Festival and the Aintree Grand National Meeting. After a summer stint under rules, the prolific Jet Smart has come back to Point to Pointing and could be the main danger to Bronn. Now the winner of 8 Point to Points, he added two Handicap Chase wins to his CV in the summer of 2025. Emma Summersby’s other entry, Jubertilee is the winner of 6 Point to Points, including twice at this course.

The Jockey Club and Mr & Mrs Dennis Open Maiden Race for Mares & Fillies only

Christopher Barber brings forward two unraced fillies for this race. The pick of his runners looks to be Sainte Crystal, who comes from a huge family of winners including her half brother, seven time winner, Irish Saint. The daughter of Crystal Ocean was purchased for €45,000 as a foal. Chris’ horses are in great form and he enjoyed a successful weekend with four winners. Luke Price was in the winners enclosure at Howick and Buckfastleigh and is another trainer to hold two entries. Rhythm Of Life is looking to make her debut for the yard having been purchased out of Gordon Elliott’s. Lightning Legs only ran at Howick last week for connections and finished 2nd to Walkingtheline of Chris Barber’s. Ed Rees is enjoying a good season and could run Dreamaboutit. She was not beaten far at Charing when finishing 4th and should take a step forward for that run.

The A C Worth Maiden Race for Horses & Geldings only

Back To Bratton is the 4 year old full brother to Jet Smart and looks likely to make his racecourse debut. He was purchased out of Goffs UK as a Store for £13,000. Likely dangers could come from Dance Ifyoucan out of Josh Newman’s yard.  He has run once in Irish Point to Points finishing 2nd to L’Aurige, who was not beaten far in a Bumper at Chepstow on Sunday. Thief Of The Night fell on seasonal debut at Badbury Rings, but his 2nd place at Flete Park last season, could see him be competitive here and give Charlotte Leary a winner. Slide Rule (Danielle Kenealy) has been in the placings on two occasions this season but pulled up last time out.

The Christopher Godfrey Memorial Mixed Open Race

Dual Point to Point winner Beacon Edge will likely go off favourite for Josh Newman and connections after winning a Mixed Open at Wadebridge and most recently, Didmarton. Hidden Heroics loved Wadebridge and has given young jockey Harry Neale some great spins in the saddle and should be in the mix here. King’s Quay (Matthew Hampton) has been very lightly raced of late but the Hunter Chase winner ran well to finish 6 lengths behind Beacon Edge at Didmarton. Jet Smart is another who should be competitive in this if not taking up his early engagement in the Members Race.

The C & R Construction South West Ltd Restricted Race

The Restricted looks like it could be the most competitive race of the day with plenty of well fancied horses looking to line up. Clonagoose (Emma Summersby) has won both a Maiden and Restricted already this season and will have to carry a 5lb penalty, which mostly will be counteracted with a 4lb age allowance. Emma also has Lough Owel entered, who ran well in defeat at Larkhill when he finished 2nd behind Woodstock Octo. Luke Price could bring forward Buckfastleigh maiden winner, Galudon. He did not have a hard race at Buckfastleigh but this could be a quick turnaround. Make Idaho Great made it a winning English debut when coming home in front at Charlton Horethorne two weeks ago for Josh Newman. Tourmaline (John Heard) won his Maiden at Larkhill and has been competitive in Restricted company, most recently finishing 4th at Didmarton.

The Exeter Racecourse Intermediate Series Qualifier Race

With all runners qualifying for the Exeter Intermediate Final, six could head to post in this. Josh Newman has both Talimar Pearl and Impakt St Georges entered. Talimar Pearl deserves to get his head in front after running consistently on both his starts this season. Impakt St Georges won a Restricted at Wadebridge but found the company too hot when finishing down the field at Didmarton two weeks ago. Emma Summersby has both Clonagoose and Lough Owel in this and whichever she runs, should be highly noted.
