This popular fixture takes place on Sunday at Bangor-on-Dee (LL13 0DA), with sixty-seven horses entered for the six point-to-point races.  There is also a charity flat race where riders have to raise money for local charities.  Racing gets under way at 1.00.

The opener is a two-mile flat race for four- and five-year-olds, with twelve entries.  Only five of them have raced, with Wise Maiden and Ruling Planet each having shown good placed form this season.  With seven potential debutants, it looks like a race to watch for future prospects.

The five-year-old and upwards Maiden has attracted the biggest entry of seventeen.  The ones to concentrate on are Artic Sting, Hopeful Herbie, Push the Pass and Radical Optimism.  Radical Optimism from the powerful Gina Andrews yard had some useful placed efforts last year but lacks a run this season.  Push the Pass showed promise in a Garthorpe Maiden in November.  Hopeful Herbie from the Phil Rowley yard was prominent for a long way before weakening two out in a Brocklesby Maiden, eventually finishing third.  However, Artic Sting came a good second in the Mares Maiden at the same meeting and may just have the edge.

There are ten potential entries for the Mixed Open and the main contenders are Blagthebookies, Galileo Silver, Great Valley, and Kandor.  Blagthebookies won a couple of races last season including a Conditions Race over this course.  Galileo Silver won three times last season and should be competitive on his first run this season. Great Valley was an impressive five-year-old Novice last season winning his final four races, but he also lacks a recent run.  Kandor won a Conditions Race at Larkhill and then was a good runner-up over the same course to the prolific Grace-A-Vous-Enki. His race fitness should help him prevail here.

The Conditions Level 2 over the shorter two-and-a-half miles has eleven potential runners.  Blagthebookies and Great Valley are both entered here as well as the Open and each would have chances.  Ideal Du Tabert has improved with each run this season and finished runner-up to Paul Marvel in a Leicester Hunter Chase.  However, the veteran chaser Senior Citizen showed plenty of zest in winning at Higham, and the thirteen-year-old might be good enough here.

The Conditions Level 3 is confined to West Mercian Area horses and has eight entries.  An interesting contender is the ex-Gavin Cromwell trained chaser Peaches and Cream, who last ran in the Cheltenham Cross-Country race before Christmas, and is now with Laura Richardson.  However, if the Diana Ralph trained Iontach Cheval turns up here he will take some beating. He was extremely impressive when winning at Sandon last Easter and looks the nap if race fit.

The concluding Restricted has nine entries.  The three main contenders are Drayton Flyer, Easy Rider and Sharing is Caring.  Easy Rider won a Restricted at Alnwick but was only a seven-length fourth to Sharing is Caring in a similar race at Friars Haugh.  The ex-Olly Murphy trained hurdler Drayton Flyer looked progressive when landing a Brocklesby Maiden and has scope for improvement.
