Saturday’s fixture at Horseheath will not be going ahead after the organisers took the difficult decision to abandon.
Point to Point Authority Chief Executive Paul Miller explains “We were in contact with the fixture on Monday afternoon after entries had closed, as their entry numbers were low. It was a surprise as hunt cert numbers are well ahead of this time last year, and the organisers felt they had chosen the right races for their card. The fixture indicated they were inclined to go ahead but were wary of disappointing racegoers with small field sizes, so would have a meeting at the course to confirm their decision”.
The earliest all course organisers and officials could meet was on Tuesday, and unfortunately during that meeting it was decided it was in the best interests of the sport and the East Anglia area to abandon, rather than run with small fields.
The team also made the decision to refund all pre-paid entry tickets and entry fees.
Weatherbys have already contacted owners and keepers to confirm this.
Miller continued “ They were stuck between a rock and a hard place, no matter what decision they chose would result in disappointment for some people. Unfortunately, as entries had already been published for the weekends Hexham and Larkhill fixtures we could not fairly reopen entries”
