The first Hunter Chase of the new season takes place at Taunton on Monday 9th January. Entries close at noon on 3rd January. It is the ‘Tally Ho’ Open Hunter Chase over 2 miles and 7 furlongs sponsored by Mrs Pam Bosley in memory of her husband Geoffrey with a total prize money of £6599
This will be the first Hunter Chase run at Taunton since January 2020. Explaining the reasons for this Managing Director Bob Young said that ‘Due to the Covid Restrictions we made the decision to drop Hunter Chases to ensure that racing for the professional jockeys could continue and we also removed races for Conditional Jockeys. There was never any intention to permanently remove these from our card and we are delighted to continue our link as an independent course with our point-to-point connection’
There are two more Hunter Chases scheduled to be run at Taunton on 21st February and 13th April. It is vital that these are well supported to ensure their future survival.
