The first GB Pointing Bonus race to take place in the Northern Area went the way of 4YO newcomer Titi Montmartre (FR) for owners Little Canwood Stables Partnership. Sponsored by GOFFS, after today’s performance he may well end up back there, in what may prove to be a full circle moment as this horse went through the ring at their 2023 Yorton Sale for £20,000.
The decision by Keeper Christopher Barber to make the long journey certainly paid dividend as jockey Ed Doggrell picked up his first win at the track. The sole 4YO in the field belied his inexperience by travelling kindly throughout the contest and patiently ridden as the field bunched up from 3 out, he found himself four lengths clear at the last where a slow jump opened the door for Short Sell (IRE) to re-assert alongside the strong finishing Midnight Dragon (GB). Titi Montmartre had plenty more in the tank and once gathered up by Ed, was able to draw clear at the finish in a taking debut performance.
With plenty of Graded and Listed form in the family pedigree, it will be exciting to see how this horse progresses with time and experience.
